We love the idea of adding fruit into our days wherever we can! It doesn't have to be jam or just cut up fruit either! We have some fun ideas to use up that delicious summer fruit!
Fruit Ice Cubes - try putting raspberries & mint, or cut up cantaloupe, even peach slices in your ice cube trays and then adding water. This will freeze the fruit in the cubes to add to water or iced tea for a refreshing treat.
We absolutely LOVE when our customer's share their recipes that they're creating at home with Philly Foodworks deliveries. This summer inspired pizza was made by Peggy Marshaleck, a weekly PFW customer. She was kind enough to share her quick and easy recipe so we couldn't wait to pass it along to inspire others!
1 - Rosa's Pizza dough (can make your own pizza dough or use a pre-made flatbread)
1-2 peaches, sliced
Who wants to heat up the house by using the oven when its 85 plus degrees outside? That's where the grill comes in! Of course, the usual favorites come to mind; burgers, chicken, portobello mushrooms, steaks and more. We have some other thoughts in mind of some things you might not necessarily think to grill!
Peaches - Sweet or Savory. Grill halved peaches to pair with pork chops, top with cinnamon, brown su...
Summertime brings along with it bursting farms & gardens. In those are fresh herbs! You'll see or start seeing rosemary, mint, thyme, parsley, chives, sage & more. Fresh herbs are a must in my household! I get overly excited about fresh herbs which sometimes leads to me needing to find ways to use the herbs so they don't go to waste in the abyss of my kitchen.
Some of the most common uses, of course, are in cooking: marina...
Cucumbers are delicious fresh, don't get me wrong, but I will never turn down a pickle! It doesn't even have to be a cucumber pickle; onions, cauliflower, beans, carrots. Any veggie is fine by me!
However, since cucumbers have just started rolling in, why not celebrate their arrival with a pickle recipe! I opted to go the naturally fermented route with this which is a bit less hands-on and does not use vinegar. I love vinegar p...
Strawberries are one of the fruits that keep us on the edge of our seats. Once they make their sweet arrival we know it's only a matter of a few short weeks before they are gone again. Let's face it nothing really compares to a fresh, in season strawberry; that juicy, deep red sweetness is what we long for after a cold winter.
One thing you can do to extend their season is preserving. Most people think this is only jam bu...
Once spring rolls around a bounty of new and exciting produce starts following right along. We've had a bit of a rocky start with cooler than normal temps, a mini heat wave and back down to cooler temps. However, the produce is still coming in strong!
With all these new & fresh ingredients to work with I wanted to share one of my go to salads of the season! Some of my favorite ingredients to combine in a fresh salad are strawbe...
We love eggs! Sometimes we get overly excited about eggs and might have more in the fridge than we thought (no, just me?). One dish that uses a good amount of eggs in one shot is frittatas. I was always leery of making frittatas, I was making it harder than it actually was. After getting the basics down, I quickly realized the flavor possibilities were only limited to the ingredients you have available!
This month we've been encouraging everyone to get baking! We have some excellent ingredients for baking, including our veggies!
I've had a LOT of sweet potatoes these past few months and while I enjoy a simple baked sweet potato any time, I like mixing it up from time to time. These muffins are a great way to sneak some extra veggies in your day!
